Matthew Davey is an accomplished musician, having played for the prestigious Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra, Toronto Signals, and six other bands. He was previously a student at York University with special honors in the world-renowned Music program, and is an in-demand percussionist.

Matthew knew he wanted to be a percussionist when he first heard John Bonham of Led Zeppelin’s drum solo on his Father’s LP. The thunderous drum beats sent Matthew’s adrenaline pumping throughout his body and inspired him to spend endless hours practicing each day to become like John Bonham. Matthew’s first performance was in 2006, and he was awarded second place at the battle of the bands for his first live drum solo. From that moment on, he knew he would be playing music for the rest of his life, and he hasn’t looked back since then.

Matthew’s endless hours of practicing led him to explore other genres of music outside of rock’n’roll. He is now a percussion expert at over 20 genres, including Jazz and Classical music. Matthew is an extremely quick learner when it comes to music, especially when he discovers a new genre. He excels in his music program, and receives A’s in all of his music classes. This Toronto-born percussionist is a natural when it comes to music.

Today, Matthew is involved in many music projects both in and out of school. He teaches piano and drums to students, performs as a conductor for Notre Dame High School, is involved in five different bands, and is also an in-demand percussionist for weddings and other musical events.
